Akshay Rai

Akshay Rai is a Principal at Premji Invest (PI) and leads investments across healthcare and life science sectors. Since joining in 2010, Akshay has held multiple roles at PI across India and the U.S. Most recently, he helped start U.S. Healthcare Investments for PI, which includes the firm’s investments in Moderna, Devoted Health, BilliontoOne, Adimab, and Enveda. Akshay also serves on the board of directors of BilliontoOne and Enveda. Akshay is passionate about the urgent need for innovation in healthcare delivery and drug development and his focus is on platforms that leverage emerging technologies to discover new treatments and better care models. Prior to joining PI, Akshay was a healthcare analyst at Citigroup India. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from NITK Suratkal and an M.B.A. from IIM Bangalore.
