SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated research associate to support the development of high-throughput screening assays for AAV engineering. As part of the Technology Innovation group, you will work together in a small team environment to design, build, and optimize high-throughput in vitro and in vivo screening assays to evaluate properties of novel AAV constructs. You will obtain a strong foundation in assay development, become familiar with cutting-edge instrumentation for molecular and cellular analysis, and work collaboratively with high-throughput NGS data. This is a unique opportunity to gain broad experience in a startup environment and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the development of high-throughput screening assays by performing activities that include cell culture, AAV vector purification, cell transfection and transduction, tissue processing, fluorescence microscopy, cell sorting, and/or NGS library prep
• Assist in the design and execution of studies in a variety of in vitro and in vivo model systems
• Collaborate with the team to interpret and present data
• Effectively communicate internally through meetings, presentations, and publication efforts
• Help maintain lab supplies and equipment pertinent to your project
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, virology, or a related field
• 2+ years of hands-on wet lab experience with methods in cell biology (cell line development, culture, fluorescence microscopy, functional manipulation, etc.) and DNA/RNA manipulation and analysis (nucleic acid extraction, amplification, quantification, sequencing, etc.)
• Attention to detail and ability to conduct sensitive protocols consistently
• Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to maintain accurate and organized documentation of lab work and results
• Experience preparing and working with NGS libraries a plus
• Experience with high-throughput automated platforms such as liquid handling systems a plus
